Recently, the temperature dropped suddenly, and the glass rotameters in the company were affected again. However, a strange phenomenon was observed: the rupture of the glass due to water filling it – there’s nothing that can be done about that. However, the container got cracked from the cold, and I will question the manufacturer’s choice of material. The hemihydrate was preserved. I’m a bit frustrated now; I can only empty all the glass rotameters that aren’t in use on site.
Frost cracking that occurs when the tank is filled with water is mainly caused by the expansion of water’s volume as it turns to ice. As for empty pipes, there’s probably an issue with their quality. The best solution is to ensure proper insulation to prevent sudden drops in the temperature of the fluid inside!
