My coking plant uses the vanadium tannin method for secondary desulfurization, but no sulfur paste has been produced over the past three years; I’m not sure of the reason for this. All the parameters are within the acceptable range, but what comes out is mud that is slightly yellow in color, and sometimes it’s black as well. I’m not certain whether it’s a complex substance or not.
Our factory also uses the vanadium tannin method for secondary desulfurization, achieving a sulfur purity of over 98%!
Is that so? What are the levels of suspended sulfur and vanadium in yours? What about alkalinity?
Sulfur removal using tannin method can produce sulfur of high purity; this is a relatively mature process. I wonder if there’s a problem with your regeneration system?
No foam is visible in the regeneration tower, but our temperature control and the control of the regeneration air volume are both carried out strictly in accordance with the design specifications
Tannin extraction is a relatively mature process, but the quality of tannins varies greatly; it’s possible that the regeneration effect achieved is not very good either.
The key issue is that no sulfur foam can be generated; it’s all desulfurization liquid.
It could be an imbalance in the vanadium-to-gel ratio; also, what is the regeneration temperature? Around 40 degrees is ideal. :)

What are the appropriate levels and ratios of tannin and vanadium? The temperature for regeneration is no problem; nowadays many manufacturers no longer use sulfur melting or salt extraction processes – they opt for filter presses instead, as these processes have a significant negative impact on the environmental hygiene at the site.
Sulfur foam is quite important; you might try using a filter press, as that can also be quite effective
