What is the function of the azeotropic tower in LUCI low-temperature methanol washing? Let’s discuss it together.
Luchi’s azeotropic tower is essentially Linde’s methanol-water separation tower. Its function is to utilize the difference in boiling points between methanol and water in order to separate them through heating and distillation. The wastewater at the bottom of the tower is sent for biological treatment (at a sewage treatment plant), while the methanol vapor at the top of the tower serves as a stripping medium in the thermal regeneration tower to help regenerate the methanol-rich stream, thereby reducing the water content in the system

My understanding is that the Ruchi azeotropic tower is actually a device added to the Ruchi vaporizer for use in low-temperature methanol washing. Its functions are: 1) removing polymer compounds, 2) removing ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, 3) recovering light oil, 4) sending the methanol-water mixture obtained at the bottom of the tower to a methanol-water tower for dehydration
The purpose of designing an azeotropic tower is to prepare material for the methanol-water column, by enabling methanol and water to form an azeotrope; this helps to remove components with a boiling point lower than that of methanol and water, thereby preventing these lighter components from entering the methanol system in the methanol-water column
The Ruchi unit is also known as a methanol-water separation tower; I’ve never heard of an azeotropic tower. Its functions are as follows: first, to reduce the water content in the system; second, to clean the entire low-temperature methanol washing system by removing any coal dust impurities into the wastewater treatment system; third, to supply methanol vapor to the heat regeneration tower in order to enhance its stripping capacity.

You’re completely wrong; Ruchi also has a methanol-water separation tower. The function of the azeotropic tower mentioned by the original poster is what was described on the third floor – it’s mainly used for oil removal. Prevent blockage of the reboiler and bottom of the methanol-water separation tower.
I fairly agree with what was said on the 3rd floor; the purpose of installing this tower is to remove oil and hydrogen sulfide. If saying that water and methanol need to be separated doesn’t make much sense, it’s because methanol and water form a co-product; they are removed downstream after coming out at the bottom of the tower.
Methanol and water will form co-waste; it seems unlikely, right? If that were the case, then what’s the purpose of methanol distillation? Think about it carefully
