What information should be indicated on a PFD diagram? Should only readable parameters such as temperature and pressure be shown, or must all parameters related to the process also be included? For example: flow rate, material composition, etc
The PFD icon should indicate the design temperature, design pressure, and the composition and state of the material in the pipeline. For clarity, the pipelines in the PFD diagram can be numbered, with these numbers corresponding to a PFD icon data manual to facilitate reference.

It is a process flow diagram, and it is necessary to clearly indicate materials, pressure, temperature, etc.
It depends on the specific requirements; there is no uniform standard. Some require that PFDs be as simple as possible – in one project we did, we only indicated the status of the equipment, with the detailed pipelines and other details shown on the P&ID. Of course, simplicity does not mean the absence of information; what isn’t shown on the PFD is actually covered by mass balance tables and lists of pending issues. By looking at everything together, it’s possible to understand the full picture. Some prefer a comprehensive approach, while others prefer a more separated layout – it all comes down to the client’s specific requirements.
Our PFD includes property parameters as well as process parameters, but only those related to the pipes.
The PFD I use myself indicates the physical properties of each flow stream (viscosity, density, etc.), as well as the flow rate, operating temperature, and operating pressure. This makes it easier to look up information during hydraulic calculations. In addition, the heat load of the heat exchanger and the head of the pump are also indicated.
On a PFD, process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate should generally be indicated, along with the names of the inlet and outlet streams, the tag numbers and names of the equipment, and the tag numbers and diagrams of the control instruments. In proper PFDs, stream numbers are also provided, along with material balance data.
Generally, on the pipeline, it is indicated with the material name, phase state, operating pressure, operating temperature, composition, and key physical properties (such as density, viscosity, thermal conductivity, etc.)； On some devices, information such as the heat load of the heat exchanger is indicated.
