In our plant, the yield of coke tar is around 2.7% (based on dry coal), with a volatility content of 26%. Is it normal?
The yield of tar is related to the volatility of the blended coal, the heating regime of the coke oven, the temperature in the oven roof space, and so on. In our company, the coal volatilization is around 32, with a yield of approximately 3.4.
The data seems normal; the volatiles content in our factory is around 24, and the yield is around 2.5!
Could too low a volatile matter content lead to difficulties in pushing the coke? Our company requires that this value be no lower than 26%. I think it’s a bit low; in my plant, the dry-base volatilization is around 21.5%, and the dry coal tar content can reach 2.6. There might also be differences in the way calculations are done
It should be normal. The volatilization content of the coal used in our plant is 28–29%, with a tar yield of 2.6%. Generally, the tar yield in rammed coke ovens is slightly lower than that in top-charged coke ovens, while the yield of crude benzene is slightly higher. I believe the reason for this is that the coal density in rammed coke ovens is higher; during the coking process, the proportion of gaseous substances is greater compared to top-charged coke ovens, and the gasification products undergo more cracking at high temperatures, which leads to this phenomenon.
Our facility has been in operation for three months now, and the tar yield is not high – it’s around 3% based on dry coke, which is neither high nor low. The crude benzene yield is around 1.25% based on dry coke. Please help analyze the reasons for this. I work with 5.5-meter coke ovens.
What is the volatility of the blending coal? Should tests be conducted using small coke ovens? If the coal has a high volatilization content, then it depends on whether you use high-pressure ammonia water for spraying the gas collection pipes, as well as on the operating condition of the electrostatic tar collectors and the mechanical ammonia water clarification tanks. I’ve encountered the same problem as well; my tar yield is around 3% on a dry tar basis, which is equally troublesome. The boss requires 4. 2 or more.
The small coke oven test wasn’t conducted; the volatility of my blending coal is around 26-28. With the same coal blending ratio I use, the tar yield on my other coke oven (3.2-meter tamping type) is 4 based on dry coke. It’s around 2%, so I’m very troubled; please help.
Check whether the temperature in the furnace top area is too high; if it isn’t, and the issue of poor tar separation can be ruled out, then it is likely related to the quality of the coal
