The pinion bearing of the MBS3858.0 (YW) rod mill, which is used in conjunction with Texaco gasifiers in our company and manufactured by *****, has worn out due to lack of oil; we would like to replace this bearing. We are in the repair business; all we need are tools for adjusting the tooth side clearance, such as wire, feeler gauges, dial indicators, and other common tools. Last edited by lflhome1 on 2009-1-23 12:20.]
The problem is that we can’t remove the coupling using a 100-ton screw jack.
A wrench and an adjustable wrench are usually sufficient.
The journal of the pinion shaft is 320mm
For shafts of this size, it is generally necessary to replace both the gears and the shafts at the same time. Blacksmiths can use tools to work on shafts with a diameter of up to 200 mm at most. I once spent 7 days working on a 140 mm shaft with a transitional fit, and it took me that long to complete the assembly of a 800 mm shaft. A blacksmith is someone who uses manual tools and machines to perform tasks; there are also limits to what they can do
Use a puller or a custom-made fixture along with a jack to remove the coupling. If this doesn’t work for a 100-ton load, it may be necessary to use a loosening agent; or, if heating is allowed, heating the coupling can also be tried. The fixture should have sufficient strength to withstand the pressure, otherwise deformation will affect the results
Depending on the actual situation, one can create a dedicated removal tool for regular use in the future.
For couplings and bearings of this size, it is necessary to create custom fixtures; a \"door\"-shaped frame can be used, along with jacks for lifting, or threaded screws can also be employed for pushing. It also needs to be heated at the same time.
