What exactly are the differences between pressure pipes and stress pipes? Please advise
Does a stress pipeline necessarily belong to the category of pressure pipelines?
Pipes that are subjected to a pressure greater than 0.1 MPa are considered pressure pipes; stress is generated as a result of the processing steps
1) Pressure pipelines: Defined by Decree No. 373 of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, a pressure pipeline is a tubular device that uses pressure to transport gases or liquids. It refers to pipelines in which the maximum operating pressure is greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa (gauge pressure), for gases, liquefied gases, steam, or liquid media that are flammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive, and have a maximum operating temperature greater than or equal to their standard boiling point; such pipelines also have a nominal diameter of more than 25 mm. 2) LZ’s theory regarding stress in pipes doesn’t make sense – all pipes have stress. Regarding pressure pipelines, the friend upstairs is absolutely correct. As for stress pipes, they are rarely discussed; it seems there are no standard regulations regarding them, with this term only occasionally mentioned by those in the piping engineering field. It is definitely a pressure pipeline, referring to pipelines that require detailed stress calculations in accordance with ASME and GB50316 standards, as well as those with long lengths that need stress calculations to determine stress compensation.
I understand that stress pipes refer to pipes with high stress requirements, such as steam pipes and the inlet and outlet pipes of rotating equipment; The second category includes pipes that require stress relief, such as alkali-resistant pipes made of carbon steel.
There is no such thing as a definition for a stress pipe!
Pressure pipes are easy to understand; the explanation upstairs was very clear. They are primarily pipes that bear internal pressure. As for stress pipes, it’s the first time I’ve heard of them. But could it be understood as pipes subject to stresses other than those caused by internal pressure, such as stresses generated during installation, due to thermal expansion and contraction, or as a result of shocks from the operation of moving equipment? Or is it just a term resulting from the translation of foreign standards?
Stress is generated during the operation of pipelines, right? It needs to be kept within a certain range. Is that what the original poster is asking about?
