1. The vacuum pump sealant has a high density. 2. The temperature of the vacuum pump’s seal fluid is high, causing some vaporization. 3. The vacuum pump has a high pumping load. 4. The shaft seal of the vacuum pump is damaged, resulting in high friction. 5. There is a problem with the motor itself.
From a process perspective, there can be several reasons: 1. Excessively high flow rate of the working fluid; 2. Too high exhaust pressure; 3. Excessive amount of liquid in the intake gas!

This answer is quite accurate. Another possibility is that the suction medium contains highly viscous materials, which increases the friction between the impeller and the liquid ring.
To add, the most likely cause is an excessive amount of liquid inside the liquid ring vacuum pump, which increases the rotational force of the pump and thus raises the current. Secondly, at the time of startup, the vacuum level in the system being evacuated is low, resulting in a high pumping load for the vacuum pump and consequently an increase in its current. Other factors such as excessive friction due to a small gap between the impeller and the pump casing, damaged mechanical seals, or deformation of the pump shaft can also lead to an increase in the vacuum pump’s current.
There are also issues such as shaft locking and impurities in the sealing fluid :)
Excessive water in the water ring can cause high current levels. Check whether the flow rate of water in the water ring is within the operating range; also, verify whether there is too much liquid in the gas being pumped, as this can also lead to current overload.

The reasons mentioned above are all possible causes of excessive motor current. The specific reason requires stopping or removing the pump for analysis
