I heard that some water-coal slurry gasification plants can now use a slag discharge technique involving a lock hopper, but I don’t fully understand it. Has anyone who has experienced this done so? Please share your experience. How to operate the direct discharge of the ash hopper, and what is the purpose of direct discharge? What should be paid attention to? Under what circumstances can direct discharge technology be used?
I have never seen a gasification unit with direct discharge from the lock hopper, but my understanding is that in such a system, the slag discharge valve of the gasification furnace does not need to be opened and closed periodically – it remains open at all times. To achieve this, it is first necessary to maintain a stable liquid level in the gasification furnace, that is, to keep the cooling water and the discharged water within a certain range. Additionally, the slag treatment process in subsequent stages needs to be improved so that self-discharge becomes possible. I’m not sure if my idea makes sense !
The principle behind this technology is as follows: under normal conditions, the quenching chamber of the gasification furnace is connected to the slag holding chamber at the bottom; ash and slag settle in the slag holding chamber. By periodically switching the valves, the connection between the two chambers is severed, thereby removing the ash and slag from the system.

What the original poster means is that for slag discharge using the hopper system, there is no need for traditional regular slag collection and removal; instead, the slag in the quenching chamber is continuously discharged through the hopper? ?
