Recently, the first phase of the 100,000-ton styrene-butadiene rubber project, funded by Tianjin Lugang Petroleum and Rubber Company, began construction in Dagang District. This project is an important initiative aimed at connecting with the million-ton ethylene production facility and developing downstream petrochemical products; it is also the first project to start construction in Binhai New Area this new year. The Dagang District makes full use of its abundant petroleum and petrochemical resources as well as its distinctive industrial advantages, continuously increasing efforts in the development of downstream petrochemical products to further strengthen its core industries. At present, driven by the million-ton ethylene refining and chemical integration project, this area has attracted a number of enterprises in the field of new chemical materials; Tianjin Lugang Petroleum Rubber Company’s 100,000-ton styrene-butadiene rubber project is one such example. As the first project among private enterprises to be linked to a million-ton ethylene project, Tianjin Lugang Petroleum and Rubber Company will invest 2.5 billion yuan in the Dagang District to build facilities capable of producing 100,000 tons of styrene-butadiene rubber, 60,000 tons of butyl rubber, and 50,000 tons of isoprene rubber per year. Upon completion of the project, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 7 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 1.3 billion yuan. At the same time, it will fill the gap in the private economy of this city and even across the country, where there is no large-scale synthetic rubber production. It is understood that the first phase of production, involving 100,000 tons of styrene-butadiene rubber, will begin simultaneously with the production of millions of tons of ethylene. The project aims to establish a large-scale synthetic rubber manufacturing base in Tianjin that is technologically advanced and environmentally friendly.
