Dear friends, we have three gear pumps. When pumping dirty oil from a small dirty oil tank to a large dirty oil tank through self-priming, sometimes the amount is not measured and the pump body heats up. Even when the pump was running, water poured from the large tank into the small tank. At first, it was thought that the pump gear was damaged. But after replacing it with a new one, a similar problem occurred. I would like to ask knowledgeable people about the reasons for this situation.
Since it is dirty oil, there is a possibility that the inlet is clogged. Or the oil is thicker.
If something is stuck in the filter, stop the pump and let a fitter clean the filter.
It may be that the inlet filter of the pump is blocked, causing the pump to evacuate and generate heat. There should be a one-way valve at the pump outlet. Why does it come back? The one-way valve is also leaking. It needs to be repaired or replaced.
There is no one-way valve at the outlet of the pump. When the pump is initially opened, the large tank can be poured back into the small tank, but the amount cannot be measured. However, after the pump is stopped, sometimes it can be opened again and the amount can be increased. From this point of view, the oil viscosity should not be high. And there is no filter at the inlet.
Add a filter to the inlet. If your viscosity is too high, you can consider using other types of pumps! If a gear pump is used, the temperature will still be high. As long as the temperature does not exceed the standard, just turn it on and there should be no problem.
