To what extent does one need to master the technology related to chemical processing equipment in order to be considered competent? It is often said that equipment technology and processing technology are inseparable, but each has its own focus areas. I’m not quite sure to what level of effort those of us who study equipment technology need to commit; could someone please provide some guidance on this
It’s hard to determine exactly what the standard is; when learning something and using it, if you don’t feel any difficulty, then perhaps it’s considered sufficient.
Those who work with equipment indeed need to possess certain process knowledge in order to have a relatively easier job. Here are my thoughts, for reference only: 1. One should have a basic understanding of the process flow and key parameters of the main production line on which they work. 2. Have a basic understanding of these main process principles. Understand the system’s temperature, pressure, humidity, dust level, space requirements, and so on. 3. Understand what situations can occur with the equipment and what impact they will have on production. 4. Be aware of the production plans for emergency situations, such as power outages, water shortages, fires, and so on. As well as the process sequence for starting up and shutting down, etc. Basically, mastering the above will be enough to handle common work-related issues. Of course, the more knowledge you have of manufacturing processes and equipment, the better! Suggestions: 1. Communicate more with the manufacturers on a regular basis to understand their requirements for equipment, and build a good relationship with them. 2. Establish a database of cases related to the handling of equipment with production issues, in order to accumulate extensive practical experience. 3. Regularly make comparisons and consider improvements and shortcomings of the equipment. In fact, with the increasing level of automation in equipment, working with equipment has become even more important.
