There is a need to modify a reactor by changing the function of the 24\" manhole located on its top head so that it serves both as a manhole and as a feed inlet. Is this feasible? It seems that there is no relevant provision on this in the regulatory standards. However, according to clause 4.1.4 of HG20583, it is permitted. Please discuss what the best approach would be
Sure, but since there are pipes connected to the manhole, it’s inconvenient to enter and exit during maintenance
It’s possible, but I recommend making a hole in the cover of the manhole and attaching a flange to it as the feed inlet; this is more convenient and ensures that both the manhole function and the feeding process are properly addressed.
Specifications do not require such specific details; in principle, it is allowed. So far, no excellent structure has been found that can facilitate access for maintenance through the manhole while also serving as a feed pipe inlet. It is recommended to provide a detailed structure so that a more in-depth discussion can take place.
At present, it seems that no reason prohibiting this can be found in any of our country’s regulations or standards; therefore, according to our country’s usual practice, what is not prohibited is permitted, and this approach can be adopted.
