(1) Never open the heat exchanger when it is still hot, under pressure, filled with fluid, or in use. (2) Clean water must always be used for rinsing. (The water should be free of salts, sulfur, and chlorine, or have a low concentration of iron ions). (3) If steam is used as the sterilization medium, the steam temperature for treating nitrile gaskets should not exceed 132°C, and the steam temperature for treating EPDM gaskets should not exceed 177°C. (4) If a chlorinated solution is used as the cleaning medium, it should be used at the lowest possible temperature and at the lowest concentration. The time required to clean the plates with this solution should be kept as short as possible. The chlorine concentration in the solution must not exceed 100×10-6; the temperature of the solution must be below 37°C, and the contact time between the plate and the solution must not exceed 10 minutes. Below are the recommendations regarding concentration, temperature, and cleaning time. (5) A concentrated cleaning solution must be added before the water circulates through the device. Never inject these solutions during the water circulation. (6) The cleaning solution must be kept in circulation using a centrifugal pump. (7) Do not use hydrochloric acid to clean the plates. (8) After cleaning the plates with any type of chemical solution, they must be thoroughly rinsed with clean water.
