Are the water quality requirements for waste heat boilers lower than those for ordinary boilers?

In response to the reply from floor 5, when we designed the system, the gas generation jacket was also intended to be used for holding the residue from the methanol distillation column bottom. However, after the system was put into operation, it was decided not to use it for gas generation, out of concern that it might cause damage to the jacket. As a result, during operation, the liquid from the column bottom was directly introduced into the gas generation circulation water through pipes, before reaching the jacket. Although this is wasteful, it’s still better than damaging the jacket.

In my opinion, there is a difference indeed, as the largest-capacity waste heat boilers used in mainstream applications are designed for 9F gas turbines, with a main steam pressure of 9.8 MPa – which is much lower than that of the ultra-high pressure/subcritical/ultra-critical boilers used in mainstream power plants. Trying to make them meet those higher standards would be a waste; after all, people tend to go for higher standards rather than lower ones

Both waste heat boilers and power station boilers use high-temperature flue gas to exchange heat with the water inside the tubes, thereby generating steam. The requirements for water quality are the same, also aimed at preventing oxygen corrosion or scaling. Of course, boilers with different pressure ratings have varying requirements regarding water quality, mainly in terms of the allowable levels of trace ions such as silicon and iron. The water quality for waste heat boilers should meet the same requirements as those for power station boilers of the same pressure class.

I disagree with the view from floor 12. Boiler water quality is classified according to pressure. The pressure in the waste heat boiler is not as high as that in the main boiler, but at the same pressure level, the requirements regarding water quality are the same.
