It is recommended to add a swirl plate demister at the outlet of the dust collector; our unit has seen good results using it in the phosphoric acid ammonium waste gas scrubber. If the resistance seems too high, a folding baffle design can also be considered, as it has a simpler structure.
We installed a wire mesh demister above the wet dust collector; it is made of 304 stainless steel and has a height of 150 mm. It has performed well, although there was once an instance where the demister became corroded and damaged. At that time, water mist could be clearly seen in the exhaust gas coming from the demister’s outlet. Afterwards, the demister was replaced with one made of 316 material, and this problem was resolved.
I don’t know what the medium is? In the case of wet dust collectors installed on boilers, measures such as adding baffles can lead to ash accumulation and blockages; it is best to identify the source of water ingress and find a way to address it.
To solve the problem of water in the exhaust stream, baffled mist eliminators are usually used. I suggest adding folding baffles; it’s a simple design and requires no maintenance. If you carry a large amount of water, you can add 2 or even 3 more layers depending on the situation; the pressure resistance of the foldable baffle mist eliminator isn’t very high either, around 200 Pa. As for the dust accumulation and blockage issue mentioned on the 4th floor, it can be easily resolved by adding a backwash system. Depending on the dust content, regular flushing with hot water will prevent blockages.
Installing a wire mesh demister at the outlet of the wet dust collector medium, made of 316 stainless steel, should solve the problem.
Lowering the outlet temperature can reduce water carryover.

A wire mesh demister should work fine. Another option is to use a cyclone gas-liquid separator, which can also be effective, but it isn’t as good as a wire mesh demister.
