The mechanical seal of the ammonia water pump is leaking severely; how to maintain it?
I’m not sure whether your machine seals use packing or mechanical seals; if they use packing seals, it is recommended to switch to mechanical seals. Mechanical seals offer much better performance than packing seals, and they also have a longer service life.
Please specify the detailed parameters of the medium, such as temperature, viscosity, flow rate, head, etc; Additionally, the model or structural type of the mechanical seal, as well as the sealing flushing scheme to be used, need to be considered in order to provide a satisfactory solution! :)
We use mechanical seals, with an inlet pressure of 0.12 MPaG and an outlet pressure of 2.0 MPaG. Ammonia concentration: 34%.
Please check the relevant data to see if 34% ammonia solution will undergo vaporization at 0.12 MPa. If vaporization at the inlet can be prevented, the service life of the mechanical seal can be ensured. Check the level of pump installation, as this has a significant impact on the mechanical seal. Ensure that the pump is operated in accordance with the prescribed procedures; it is essential to maintain an appropriate flow rate during operation, as insufficient flow can lead to vaporization inside the pump, resulting in unstable operation and ultimately causing failure of the mechanical seal
What kind of mechanical seal flushing scheme is being used? Where is the leakage in the mechanical seal – at the friction pair or at the auxiliary seal? More data is needed to determine the cause of the problem, so as to avoid coming up with incorrect solutions blindly! :)
