Is a fire foam suppression system required for the liquid propylene tank area?
Fire extinguishing method for propylene: Cut off the gas supply. Extinguishing agents: fogged water, foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder. It can be seen that foam fire extinguishers can be installed.
So how is the dosage calculated, and which standard should be used?
Depending on the amount of liquid propylene, it can be handled in accordance with building codes or petrochemical regulations.
When propylene or liquid hydrocarbons catch fire, there are not many effective ways to extinguish the fire; the main approaches are to control the situation and prevent explosions as well as the spread of the incident. Effective measures are: 1. Quickly cut off the gas supply, 2. **Cool the surrounding facilities (especially those containing hazardous chemicals), 3. Personally, I believe that foam and dry powder have little effect on already burning liquid hydrocarbons; water is more economical and effective. In cases where a severe leak of liquid hydrocarbons has occurred without explosion or combustion, 1. use high-pressure water to disperse the mist at the leak site, and continue to do so until the situation is resolved. 2. Cut off the gas supply. 3. If possible, move the source of leakage to a safe area. 4. If it is possible to seal the leak, such actions can be taken as sealing it with a cork or replacing the valve. 5. Safely ignite the transfer medium or connecting conduit. I have encountered both of these situations and participated in the investigations and handling.
