What are the advantages and disadvantages of fixed filters and temporary filters? What is the scope of application?
Temporary filters are used during pressure testing of equipment to remove debris from the pipelines; they are removed after the testing is complete. In contrast, fixed filters are designed to filter out impurities present in the fluid and must remain in use continuously.
Temporary filters are installed on an ad-hoc basis, whether during pressure testing, before operations begin, when the plant is shut down for equipment maintenance, and so on. In short, they are used to filter out impurities as needed; they have a relatively simple structure, their filtering capacity isn’t very high, and they are easy to install, remove, and clean. Fixed filters, on the other hand, have a much more complex structure and are larger in size. They are installed in locations where they are needed on a long-term basis to filter out impurities, requiring strong continuous operating capabilities as well as a large capacity for storing impurities, with regular cleaning being sufficient
