The black water from the true flash outlet, as designed by Tianchen Yuan, is pumped into the sedimentation tank. It’s unclear why six additional pumps are needed; why not let it flow back to the tank using the difference in elevation? Can someone who understands explain it?
The design concept for vacuum flash evaporation and sedimentation tanks is based on the ±0.00 level, and pumps are required to maintain pressure. It is said that during the technical renovation in southern Shandong, the vacuum flasher was raised to a height of around 22.6 meters (I’m not entirely sure, but that’s roughly the figure); this height difference was not part of the original design. In my opinion, regardless of the layout or whether everything is on the same level, given that this small unit involves a high volume of material flow and a mixture of liquids and solids, it is still necessary to install a pump at the bottom – it serves as a booster.
If the height permits, there’s no need for a pump; after all, our original flash tank is located at a height of over 20 meters, and liquid can flow smoothly into the sedimentation tank on the ground without the use of a pump, with no issues whatsoever – operation is normal. Here, we carry out some calculations between vacuum level and height to see if the height difference is sufficient for the vacuum flash liquid to flow into the sedimentation tank; if it is sufficient, then no further action is needed. The design provided by the design institute isn’t necessarily the optimal one, after all, opinions vary from person to person! ! !
As long as the elevation of the flash vaporization system is redesigned, pumps can be omitted. Moreover, this pump is severely worn, resulting in high repair costs
No pumps were added in the first phase of our plant; in the second phase, pumps were installed at the bottom of the true flash tank as per the design. Yes, none of them have much impact on the vacuum level, but using a pump adds more complexity. On the one hand, the pump is prone to failure, the mechanical seal is susceptible to leakage, and the medium can easily wear through the pump, piping, and valves ; On the other hand, it is because the high solid content in the medium easily causes pipeline blockages. The level of the flash tank is high enough, allowing the liquid level to be controlled by gravity alone. Currently, it’s a group of newly graduated youngsters in the design institutes who are doing the design work; they lack experience, and there is insufficient communication between different specialties, which results in many problems with the drawings produced. We don’t plan to use their services for phase two.
Zhenshan doesn’t require pumping; therefore, a pressure difference is needed in the Zhenshan tank. An additional floor must be built for slag treatment, which results in high initial investment costs. Moreover, it is more difficult to adjust the level of the Zhenshan liquid during the initial operation phase
Now many users insist on not using vacuum flash evaporation pumps (which have a high failure rate), and instead rely on the pressure difference (around 15-20 meters) during the design phase to meet the process requirements. Our company eliminated the originally planned vacuum pump system after consulting with other installations, and it is now operating very well.
I have a question: what should be done with the vacuum pipeline at the bottom after parking the vehicle? Do we need to flush it every time? Will the pipeline get clogged without a bottom pump? Please give me some advice.
There’s no need to add an extra floor; first determine the location of the real flash tank, and then use inversion to determine the relative heights of the other devices – that should work fine. Many factories make such modifications; you can go and check out a few more.:)
After parking, the pipelines need to be inspected; generally there are no major issues. A flange cover can be installed at an appropriate position on the pipeline to facilitate inspection during parking
