Is a gate valve or a globe valve better for 4.0MPa steam?
Gate valves are better; ball valves have high resistance and are prone to leakage, while gate valves offer good sealing performance
Gate valves are used when the pipe diameter is large; Use a globe valve for smaller sizes.
It needs to be determined based on your pipe diameter and heat load parameters. Gate valves have low pressure drop and a high installation height; they are generally not used for regulation and are typically applied in large-diameter pipes. The stop valve closes tightly, resulting in a high pressure drop and making it difficult to close.
The opening torque of a globe valve is much greater than that of a gate valve. I hope LZ can provide a more detailed description of the operating conditions.
I think piston valves are better. They combine the advantages of globe valves and gate valves, and they have performed well in our unit
If there is no requirement for flow regulation, gate valves are generally chosen. Globe valves are used only for small diameter pipes (DN50 and below) that require flow regulation.
Depending on the pipe diameter, gate valves are used for larger diameters while globe valves are used for smaller ones.
1. Theoretically, both gate valves and globe valves can be used. 2. A pressure of 4.0 MPa is relatively high; if a gate valve is used for large-diameter pipes, it will be difficult to open them if no balance pipes are installed in front of and behind them. 3. Due to the high temperature and pressure of 4.0 MPa steam, based on our experience, both gate valves and globe valves develop leakage issues after being in use for a certain period of time. 4. Considering the overall investment and operating costs, it is highly recommended to use piston valves in critical applications!
Both cut-off valves and gate valves can be used. For stop valves, it is best to use plug-type stop valves, as they offer better performance. Due to the high pressure, it is best to choose products manufactured by reputable manufacturers; the price will be higher, but it is worth it. Valves of low quality will start to leak within less than a year of use. Giant-diameter valves are generally equipped with gate valves.
