China National Offshore Oil Corporation: The year-end bonuses for employees in this company follow a pyramid structure; those in grade B and above (equivalent to deputy bureau level) receive bonuses that are several times higher than those of employees in grade D and below. For example, the average year-end bonus for employees in grade D is around 50,000 to 60,000 yuan, while those in grade B receive 200,000 to 300,000 yuan, with those in grade A receiving even more. CNOOC’s year-end bonuses remained largely unchanged in 2008, and there was little possibility of an increase in benefits or salaries at CNOOC in 2009.
