Notice on the Passing Standards for the 2008 Qualification Examination for Registered Engineers in Surveying and Design
To the examination centers in various cities and prefectures: In accordance with the requirements set out in the “Notice on Issues Related to the Passing Standards for the 2008 Qualification Examination for Registered Engineers in Surveying and Design” (Document No. 112 [2008] issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security), the following information is provided regarding the passing standards for this examination in 2008:
I. Basic Examination
The passing standard for the basic examination for registered engineers in all specialties is 132 points (with the full score for each exam paper being 240 points). II. Professional Examinations (1) The passing score for the professional examinations for Level 1 and Level 2 registered structural engineers is 48 points (with a full score of 80 points for the exam paper). (II) The passing standards for the professional examinations for registered engineers in various specialties (except for first- and second-level registered structural engineers) are shown in the table below: Sequence Number, Specialty Name, Full Score for Professional Knowledge Exam, Full Score for Professional Case Study Exam: 1. Registered Engineer in Public Utility Equipment – Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning: 120; both scores are 200 points, with 60 points allocated to the professional knowledge section and 100 points to the professional case study section. 2. Water Supply and Drainage: 120, 60 points. 3. Power Engineering: 120, 60 points. 4. Registered Electrical Engineer – Power Transmission and Distribution: 120, 60 points. 5. Power Supply and Distribution: 120, 60 points. 6. Registered Chemical Engineer: 120, 60 points. 7. Registered Environmental Engineer: 110, 60 points. 8. Registered Civil Engineer – Geotechnics: 120, 60 points. 9. Ports and Waterways: 120, 60 points. 10. Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering – Planning: 120, 60 points. 11. Hydraulic Structures: 120, 60 points. 12. Hydrogeology for Water Resources and Hydropower Projects: 120, 60 points. 13. Resettlement related to Water Resources and Hydropower Projects: 120, 60 points. 14. Soil and Water Conservation in Water Resources and Hydropower Projects: 120, 60 points.
