The tubes are welded to the upper and lower tube sheets; a slight expansion of the tubes is permitted. Pressure-rolled expansion with grooves is not allowed. This is an annotation in the heat exchanger data sheet. I’m not sure what pressure-rolled expansion means – does it refer to expansion joints that are formed by pressing? Pressure rolled expansion is a type of tube expansion tool. It comes in manual and gas-pressure driven versions.
What is referred to here is the method of connecting the heat exchange tubes to the tube sheet; generally, there are two methods: strength expansion plus seal welding, and strength welding plus slight expansion. Based on the English text, the method chosen here is strength welding plus slight expansion (minor expansion), as strength expansion with grooves is not permitted. The expansion joining of heat exchange tubes and tube sheets can be divided into flexible expansion joining and mechanical expansion joining. Flexible expansion joining is further categorized into adhesive expansion joining and strength-based expansion joining, with methods including hydraulic expansion, rubber expansion, and fluid-bag expansion
