In the potassium carbonate production plant, SS-1000 centrifuges are used. Problems with the discharge valve commonly used in this machine affect production. 1? Discharge valve failures and their causes: (1) Poor uniformity of the potassium carbonate liquid leads to blockages in the feeding pipes, resulting in intermittent feeding and vibrations in the centrifuge. (2) The angle of the discharge valve cannot be adjusted, and the speed of the centrifugal drum is too high. During feeding, the material overflows, which can easily cause injury to people (the temperature of the potassium carbonate liquid is around 70°C) ； (3) The discharge valve is located at the top of the centrifuge. It needs to be tilted when discharging material, which makes it difficult to operate. 2. Improvement measures: The original structure of the discharge valve is shown in Figure 1; it has now been modified to the structure shown in Figure 2, with the discharge pipe 1 replaced by a rotary joint. This rotary joint is installed outside the centrifuge, allowing its angle to be adjusted as needed. Inside the rotary joint, two counterflow rings 2 are installed to prevent liquid from flowing back. The rotary joint must be installed vertically to achieve satisfactory results. The rotation speed of the feeder was improved. Calculations showed that changing the feeding speed to 475 rpm results in a motor frequency of 16 Hz (compared to 21 Hz before). After making this adjustment, the centrifuge operates more stably, and it is important to clean the filter cloth regularly to ensure its proper functioning. Practical experience has shown that it is best to clean the filter cloth every 2 hours. Based on the operational results over the past two years, the discharge valve, after these improvements, can meet the production requirements while also facilitating operation and maintenance, thereby reducing the workload on workers.
