In actual use, the electric heating tapes often get burned out, but since the pipelines are insulated on the outside, it’s difficult to locate the point of breakage. One usually has to peel back the insulation layer bit by bit, which is very troublesome. Is there any way to determine the location of the breakage?
I once read about a method that uses the measurement of capacitive values along a circuit to determine the break point, and it is quite efficient.

Connect the wire with the break to the live wire of the power supply; this way, the voltage drop across the load occurs at the break point. Then, using an induction tester (which can detect whether a wire is charged without making contact with it), it is possible to locate the break point from outside the heating wire
Current cable fault detectors can detect it with an error of ±3 meters
