Basic Examination The total score for the basic examination paper for registered engineers in various specialties is 240 points, with a passing score of 132 points. II. Professional Examinations 1. The total score for the exams for Level 1 and Level 2 registered structural engineers is 80 points, with a passing score of 48 points ; 2. The total score for the professional knowledge exam for Registered Civil Engineers (Geotechnical Engineering), Registered Mechanical Engineers (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), Registered Mechanical Engineers (Water Supply and Drainage), Registered Mechanical Engineers (Power), Registered Electrical Engineers (Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution), Registered Electrical Engineers (Power Supply and Distribution), Registered Chemical Engineers, and Registered Civil Engineers (Port and Waterway Engineering) is 200 points, with a passing score of 120 points ; The total score for the professional case exam is 100 points, with a passing score of 60 points. Instructions for Examinees 1. The latest guidelines are applicable to this exam. 2. Pens allowed for answering the paper: fountain pens or ballpoint pens with black or blue ink ; When answering on the exam paper, candidates must use the pen provided for that purpose; pencils are not allowed, otherwise the paper will be considered invalid. Pen for filling in the answer sheet: 2B pencil. 3. Candidates should bring pens for answering questions, 2B pencils, set squares, erasers, and silent scientific calculators without programming functions when taking the exam. 4. Candidates taking professional exams are allowed to bring various professional standards, reference books, and review manuals published by reputable publishers. 5. Candidates must use the pen provided for answering questions to fill in their work unit, name, and admission ticket number in the corresponding fields on the answer sheet and the test paper. Tests on which information such as units, names, and exam numbers is written in other locations are considered to be violations of rules and will not be graded. 6. For the 2-day exam, candidates must use a 2B pencil to blacken the letter corresponding to their chosen option on the answer sheet according to the question number. If there are any changes, candidates must use an eraser to completely remove the marks from the original option, to prevent misreading by the computer when reading the card. Any writing on the answer sheet that is unrelated to the questions, or any markings made on it, will result in the paper being treated as one containing disciplinary violations. 7. For the professional exams on primary and secondary structure as well as the professional case study exams for other specialties, all the questions, answer options, and solution processes are compiled in a single test paper; no separate answer sheet is provided. 8. When answering the questions in the specialized exams on primary and secondary structure as well as those in other specialized fields, candidates must write down the answer selected for each question in the designated space provided for that question (that is, the letter corresponding to the chosen option). They must also provide the analysis of the case or the calculation process, along with the results and key reasons, in the blank space under the \"Solution Process\" section for that question. Additionally, they need to mark their chosen answers on the answer sheet using a 2B pencil. When writing out the process of case analysis and formulas on the exam paper, candidates should ensure that their handwriting is neat and clear, so as not to affect the experts’ task of grading. Answers that do not meet the above requirements will be considered invalid, and no points will be awarded for such questions. Examination and Grading Methods for the Professional Case Study Exam I. Examination The professional case study exams for National Level 1 and 2 Registered Structural Engineers, Registered Civil Engineers (Geotechnical), Registered Mechanical Engineers (HVAC, Water Supply and Drainage, Power), Registered Electrical Engineers (Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Power Supply), and Registered Chemical Engineers are conducted using both exam papers and computer-based scoring answer sheets. When answering the exam paper, candidates must fill in their name, admission ticket number, and workplace in the corresponding fields on both the paper and the computer-scored answer sheet. For each case question, the answer should be written on the test paper; below that answer, the main analysis of the case or the calculation process along with the results should be provided. The correct answer selected should then be marked on the computer-scored answer sheet using a 2B pencil. The solution process and formulas on the exam paper must be written clearly; do not write in a messy handwriting. The exam papers for the specialized case studies combine all the questions, answer options, and spaces designated for answering in one single sheet of paper. Draft paper is distributed in various locations and collected after the exam. The computer-scanned scores of candidates who do not fill in the exam paper and answer sheet in accordance with the above regulations, or who fail to write down the answers to the questions, as well as the main analysis of cases or the calculation processes and results on the paper for case-based questions, will be invalid. After the exam, the invigilator collects the answer sheet along with the test paper in front of the candidate, for use in grading. II. Scoring: For the professional case examinations for National First-Class Registered Structural Engineers, Registered Civil Engineers (Geotechnical Engineering), Registered Public Equipment Engineers (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Water Supply and Drainage, Power), and Registered Electrical Engineers (Power Generation, Transmission and Transformation, Power Supply and Distribution), computer-based scoring is used in various regions, with centralized marking conducted on a national scale. First, various regions use the assessment templates issued by the Ministry of Human Resources to conduct machine-readable scoring of candidates’ responses on the morning and afternoon test sheets regarding their basic knowledge, professional knowledge, and professional case studies. Then, they submit the score information for each subject along with information on the examination venues in PTD format to the Personnel Examination Center of the Ministry of Human Resources, as required. The Personnel Examination Center of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security conducts statistical analyses on the card-reading scores submitted from various regions for each subject, and promptly submits the results of these analyses to the National Committee for the Management of Registered Engineers in Surveying and Design. The National Committee, based on the analysis of those scores, determines the cut-off scores for each subject after conducting relevant discussions. One week before the official scoring, all examination papers for candidates taking the first-level structural engineering exams (morning and afternoon sessions), as well as those for candidates taking professional case studies exams in other fields (morning and afternoon sessions), along with the examination room records and lists of applicants, must be sent by secure mail or delivered in person to the designated grading centers. For candidates whose scores on the written tests for the primary structure specialty exam, the professional knowledge exams for other specialties, and the professional case studies exam have reached the threshold score for further evaluation, their answer sheets will be graded by assessment experts assigned from various regions. For candidates whose scores read from the cards in the professional examination for first-level structure, the professional knowledge examinations for other specialties, and the professional case examinations did not reach the score threshold for further evaluation, expert marking and scoring will not be conducted. The grading for the professional examination for Level 2 Registered Structural Engineers is carried out by various regions in accordance with the aforementioned methods for evaluating the exam papers. III. Expert Marking of Papers To ensure the objectivity and fairness of exam grading, and to effectively prevent candidates from copying answers during the exam, the relevant professional management committees for registered engineers in survey and design across the country will organize marking experts to evaluate the main analysis, calculation processes, and results related to the valid questions on the case study papers, using the grading criteria and standard answers established by the respective exam expert groups. Questions that do not meet the grading criteria or the standard answers are considered invalid; no marks will be assigned for such questions, either because no answer is provided or because there is no significant analysis or calculation process and result. For the 25 compulsory questions that require selective answering, if a candidate writes answers to more than 25 questions on the answer sheet and test paper, the first 25 answered questions will be graded in order of their question numbers, while any additional answers will be disregarded.
