The current version is made of carbon steel and is designed for a temperature of 450 degrees; it no longer meets the requirements of current production processes, as leaks frequently occur, which makes it very unsafe. I want to rebuild a cyclone separator, with a required operating temperature of 500 degrees; I’m not sure what material would be suitable.
For a medium temperature of 500°C, 0Cr18Ni9 or 1Cr20Ni14Si2 can be used. The former of the two materials is cheaper, while the latter is more expensive. Moreover, the wear resistance of both materials is not very good. It is best to use carbon steel for the casing, with an insulating and wear-resistant lining inside.

The lining usually consists of two layers: the layer closest to the shell is the insulation layer, and the materials that can be used include calcium silicate boards, aluminum silicate polycrystalline fiber boards, lightweight cast materials, lightweight spray coatings, etc; The inner layer, that is, the working layer, can be made of corundum castables or similar materials ;
The carbon steel tower interior is lined with refractory bricks, which provide insulation as well as wear resistance; it’s simple and inexpensive.
Of course, fire-resistant bricks can be used; lightweight bricks can be employed for the insulation layer, while clay bricks, high-alumina bricks, and others can be used as the working layer depending on the requirements of different operating conditions. The lining is relatively thick, and amorphous refractory materials are used rather casually. The performance is also better.
