My current company has a pickling process in which copper, bronze, and brass are cleaned using 10%-15% sulfuric acid. The impurities in the wastewater are minimal; there’s about 10% zinc, around 4% tin, along with copper. I would like to extract copper or copper sulfate from this wastewater, and ideally, I’d like to extract tin as well. Are there any good methods for this? Please. Copper can be extracted by iron displacement or by leaching. Copper sulfate then needs to be evaporated or cooled for crystallization.
A resin device can be used first to separate sulfuric acid from the salts contained within it, allowing the sulfuric acid to be reused. The salt solution is then separated based on the properties of copper, zinc, etc. gfmin@sina.com
I don’t know how much copper is contained in the waste liquid you’re talking about Unit (g/L): How much waste liquid is generated per year? How much copper needs to be recycled? If the quantity is large and long-term production is planned, extraction separation can be considered. Common copper extractants include M5640, Lix973N, Lix984, etc. After extraction, a copper-rich solution with very high purity can be obtained. There are various ways to process this copper-rich solution: 1. Evaporation crystallization to produce CuSO4 ; 2. Preparation of cathode copper by electrowinning refining ; 3. Production of copper powder by iron powder displacement ; Wait, if we want to recover Sn from the raffinate after extraction, let’s think of another method. Cost must be taken into account! Is there any value in recycling it?
The current price of tin is 10W per ton, and it remains quite expensive. The electrolyte based on sulfuric acid is not suitable for extraction and separation; currently, research is focused on chloride-based systems. I’ve found some information for you to see if it’s useful: 1. First, use iron powder to displace copper; then use zinc powder to displace tin. Check the effectiveness of this displacement process. Is there any more detailed information? For example, what are the things to keep in mind when using iron to replace copper? What is the particle size of the copper powder obtained through this process, and what is its approximate price? If copper extractants are used, will that increase the cost?
