For the hydrocracking unit in our plant, when it comes online, ammonia is not added after sulfidation; instead, low-nitrogen oil is used directly. May I ask when is the appropriate time to add water in this situation?
Once the low-nitrogen oil has penetrated the bed layer, high-pressure water injection can be activated.
Water injection is mainly used to prevent ammonia nitrogen crystals from clogging the air coolers and pipes; it’s better to inject water earlier, as not much water will be needed in any case.
