Crude gasoline was treated with decolorizing agents A and B (the decolorizing agents being in liquid form). 1. Decolorizing agent A was added at a concentration of 1% (by volume), and the mixture was stirred for 5 minutes using a magnetic stirrer; after that, it was allowed to settle so that the layers separated. The originally red-colored gasoline turned into a basically transparent liquid with a slight red tint, and the gasoline was then filtered out. 2. Add Decolorizing Agent B at a ratio of 1% (by volume), stir using a magnetic stirrer for 5 minutes, then let it stand until layers separate. The gasoline from Step 1 becomes water-white and transparent, with a white, water-soluble powder forming at the bottom of the bottle. According to the original instructions, there should be a phase separation between the liquid phases. What are the components of these two decolorizing agents? Could the experts in this forum please tell me?

Is it a strong oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide?... Just trying to stimulate some discussion... It must be some special technique developed by the experts in oil cleaning in Hebei Province, right?... :lol
I also considered whether it could be hydrogen peroxide, but hydrogen peroxide produces bubbles when it oxidizes (that’s what happened with the hydrogen peroxide we used in school). Also, would 1% concentration of hydrogen peroxide (by volume) have such a significant effect? Another possibility is (by volume percentage): 97% alkali solution, 1% thiourea, and 2% methanol; however, the liquid obtained with this mixture is orange in color, while the two decolorizing agents I saw were colorless and transparent.
a is oxalic acid, which is the main component of Meglumine; it was used in the past to deal with **red diesel. b is likely caustic soda plus an emulsifier
Oxalic acid is a reducing agent, but I think a decolorizing agent should be an oxidizing agent, so as to remove impurities such as gums and sulfides from the oil.
I think oxalic acid is less effective against gelatin than hydrogen peroxide. . . But it’s possible to try using reagents. I’ve heard of the methods everyone has mentioned, but I’ve never paid much attention to them. The key is that this approach for refining oils isn’t something that can be applied on an industrial scale; it’s quite suitable for individuals who want to make a little money by working on such projects. . . Perhaps hydrogen peroxide combined with peracetic acid is what’s needed to give it the right flavor!
