Under GB12691-1990, there are two types: L-DAA and L-DAB. I’m not quite clear about the differences between these two. Could experts please help explain when to use the former and when the latter is necessary? Thank you all.

Air compressor oils are divided into three types: light-duty L-DAA, medium-duty L-DAB, and heavy-duty L-DAC. The viscosity grades for each type include 32, 46, 68, 100, and 150. Among them, DAA and DAB are of the mineral oil type, while DAC is of the synthetic oil type. Selection of lubricating oil for reciprocating compressors: 1. Mineral oils, grades 100/150; 2. Synthetic lubricating oils, grades 68/100. The base oils used in synthetic compressor oils include synthetic hydrocarbons (poly-alpha-olefins), organic esters (diesters), polyalkylene glycols, fluorosilicone oils, and phosphate esters. Compared to mineral oil-based oils, they offer advantages such as better high-temperature stability, reduced tendency to form carbon deposits at high temperatures, a wider operating temperature range, a lower pour point, lower volatility, and a longer service life. However, due to their high cost, they are used only in compressors that operate under harsh conditions where mineral oil-based oils are not suitable.

This is quite basic: one is light load, another is medium load, and DAC represents heavy load.
