Since some pumps in the chemical industry operate continuously, with one pump in use and one as a backup, in order to reduce operational failures of these pumps and ensure that the backup pumps can be utilized effectively, we carry out pump swaps every 24 hours. If a pump fails during this period, it must be repaired and made functional by the end of the same day.

It is recommended to switch regularly; although this places strain on the backup pump, if the backup pump does not operate for an extended period of time and develops a fault later on, it will not be possible to switch properly, which will affect the operational process. As for pumps that are interlocked with each other, it is advised not to enable automatic interlocking unless in an emergency, as if the backup pump gets stuck with no one around to monitor it, the motor could be damaged. Therefore, it is recommended not to implement such interlocking mechanisms

If the main pump is the same as the backup pump, I recommend switching them regularly; smaller pumps can be switched once a month, while larger pumps can be switched once every three months. Switching it every 24 hours would drive anyone crazy; we have no less than 50 pumps in operation, so in such a situation we can only turn the pumps on and off on a daily basis.
