Power plant water treatment should be configured according to needs, and it can be divided into three main categories: 1. Traditional water treatment methods, such as clarifiers, valveless filters, inclined plate filters, conventional pressure filters (such as sand filters and carbon filters), resin softeners, or exchangers ;
2. It refers to the membrane treatment technologies that have been in use since the 1970s, with reverse osmosis membrane technology being a representative example ; 3. These are the EDI or CDI technologies that were widely implemented starting in the late 1990s, as well as the MBR technology based on ultrafiltration membranes.

As far as I know, thermal power plants basically use membrane processes, such as ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis. It is not clear what type of water treatment is used in nuclear power plants. The principles behind these water treatment methods are already well-established; what is considered advanced or still under development is mostly related to automation. Therefore, it is recommended not to get too fixated on the technical aspects, and it would be better to think more broadly.
