Why has the sulfuric acid in the ammonium sulfate plant turned black in recent days?
Reason for darkening: 1. The tar mist in the gas before the saturator is not properly removed, resulting in an increase in acidic tar formed in the saturator, which causes the sulfur-ammonia mixture to turn black. 2. If acid is not added to the saturator in a timely manner, the ammonia gas from the ammonia tower enters the saturator, causing the mother liquor in certain areas to become alkaline; this results in the mother liquor turning black, and as a result the sulfur-ammonia mixture also turns black. Solution: 1. Electrostatic capture production should be operated properly to minimize the amount of tar mist carried in the gas. 2 Remove acid tar from the mother liquor in a timely manner. 3. The acidity of the mother liquor in the saturator should be maintained at around 4-6%.

I guess you recently cleaned the horizontal pipes, and gas carrying tar condensates caused the ammonium sulfate to turn black
