I’m Cai Cai. In the process model I’m working with, the distillation column doesn’t have a bottom reboiler nor a top condenser for reflux; its interior features a packing structure. It seems that this type of module isn’t available in HYSYS. What should I do? There’s another column in the model that also lacks a bottom reboiler and a top condenser for reflux, but it has two feed streams, while I only have one feed stream. What should I do in this case? An absorption tower has neither a reboiler nor a condenser; it must have two feed streams. Are you sure that what you have is a distillation tower and not a flash tower?
If there is neither a reboiler nor a condenser, then the distillation column simply cannot operate! ! ! It should be a parsing tower or an absorption tower! ! !
For modules that have neither a reboiler nor a top condenser, they are either absorption towers or stripping towers or desorption towers. If there is only one feed stream and multiple outlet streams, then it becomes a flash tank.

There is indeed some packing inside the tower; there is only one feed inlet at the top of the tower, while there are two outlets, one at the bottom and one at the top. I think it’s appropriate to consider it a flash tower. What do you think?
