Both are great! HTFS is backed by Aspen; it’s great to have such a strong supporter. HTRI is a standalone system (it can also interface with simulation software such as ProII), and it has accumulated extensive expertise over many years in the field of heat exchanger calculations. From a user-friendliness perspective, both have only an English version, but their interfaces are quite good, so it should not be difficult to get started. After all, software is merely a tool for calculation; the ultimate outcome depends on the person using that tool! The new version of HTFS includes both the original HTFS and B-JAC software, offering quite powerful features. General heat exchanger calculations are sufficient. As mentioned above, it is just a calculation tool; no software can solve everything permanently. What really matters are engineering experience and the basic theoretical knowledge one possesses.
