Our company produces solid caustic soda and granular caustic soda. The belts used in the conveying and stacking machines suffer from severe corrosion; in some cases, they break within less than a month. I would like to know which manufacturers’ belts are used by those who produce solid caustic soda, and whether you have encountered similar problems. Our conveyor belts have PVC and TPE surface coatings; the PVC version seems to be better, lasting around half a year, but it corrodes quite severely as well.
The poster can consider applying a “fluoropolymer coating” to the conveyor belt. By spraying a liquid fluoropolymer coating on the surfaces of conveyor belts and related equipment, and then baking it at temperatures above 200°C to form a protective coating composed mainly of fluoropolymers and engineering plastics, the corrosion problem caused by NaOH can be resolved.
First of all, thank you for the suggestions from the second floor, but it doesn’t seem like this method is very easy to implement. I think there must be specialized conveyor belt manufacturers who can handle this task, as after all this is also a large market
Spraying ETFE or ECTFE should solve the problem.
Is spraying tetrafluoroethylene reliable? It is recommended to consider using a conveyor belt with a rubber lining and PTFE coating, as this provides reliable connections and helps prevent corrosion.
I think it would be better to use EPDM conveyor belts. EPDM itself has good resistance to acids and alkalis. This can be confirmed by conveyor belt manufacturers.
