Construction of Shaanxi Coal Chemical’s 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project has begun

The 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project in Pucheng, Shaanxi, controlled by Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, has begun construction. Governor Yuan Chunching issued the order to start construction; Li Yongan, General Manager of China Three Gorges Corporation, Vice Governor Wu Dengchang, and Hua Wei, Chairman of the Provincial Coal and Chemical Industry Group, attended the foundation-laying ceremony. Qian Jiabin gave an introduction to the 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project in Pucheng. The 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project in Pucheng is a major initiative carried out in cooperation with China Three Gorges Corporation. It is part of the coal chemical group’s efforts to implement the strategic plans set by the provincial party committee and government for the development of the coal chemical industry; by leveraging its own industrial advantages, the group is working to advance the construction of large-scale projects and to deepen the development of the relevant industrial chain. The preliminary preparation work for the project is progressing smoothly; the construction funds, internal organizational structure, and relevant personnel have all been arranged, and the project is now ready to commence construction. Using coal as raw material and advanced pressurized gasification technology and equipment for water-coal slurry, the project is designed to produce 1.5 million tons of methanol and 1 million tons of dimethyl ether per year. The total investment is estimated at around 7.9 billion yuan, with a construction period of 36 months. Upon completion of the project, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 4.4 billion yuan and an average annual profit of 1.9 billion yuan. The project’s payback period is approximately 6.81 years. As the developer of this project, WeiHua Group Company is determined and confident to work together in good faith and manage the project scientifically, in accordance with the unified directives of the provincial Party committee and government. It strives to create first-class, high-quality projects, thereby making new contributions to the further development of the energy and chemical industry in our province as well as to the establishment of our province as a strong economic force in the western region. The 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project in Pucheng is a joint venture between the Coal Chemical Group, Shaanxi Province, and central state-owned enterprises. Li Yongan also said in his speech that cooperation will be further strengthened, with active participation in the project development and industrial expansion in Shaanxi; through joint efforts, a \"win-win\" outcome can be achieved to foster common development. The provincial Party committee and the provincial government attach great importance to the 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project in Pucheng; it is another major construction project in our province in recent years. Wu Dengchang, the vice governor, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, put forward requirements for project construction, emphasizing that it should be carried out in a safe and efficient manner under the guidance of the scientific development concept. He said that Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, as a key enterprise in the coal chemical industry of our province, possesses advantages in coal resource development and the application of coal chemical technologies. It hopes to strengthen cooperation with China Three Gorges Corporation in order to accelerate the transformation of Shaanxi’s resource advantages into industrial advantages, and to develop and strengthen the province’s energy and chemical industry. Jiang Yue, the deputy secretary-general of the province, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony; senior officials from relevant provincial departments, the Weinan Municipal Party Committee, the municipal government, as well as key leaders from Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group also attended the ceremony for the launch of the 1 million-ton dimethyl ether project in Pucheng.
