I would like to ask the design institutes: how is the workload divided within your air separation departments? There are two cases: 1. Divided into 2, the air separation process and the air separation piping. 2. One set of piping for air separation. This piping work involves both process work and piping work. Also, which department does the project manager for air separation belong to? It is hoped that through this discussion, we can gain a deeper understanding of the job functions in air separation, which will help everyone clarify their own roles. We are a design institute formerly under the Ministry of Chemical Industry. In our organization, air separation projects are mainly handled by two specialized teams: 1) the piping team, and 2) the team responsible for process machinery and pumps. Typically, the project manager is from the piping team. From 2005 to 2008, we undertook the general contracting for 5 air separation units, all following this same approach
We are also divided into piping and process teams; the project manager is assigned from the piping team. That’s how it is originally

A friend upstairs said that the air separation project manager falls under the category of pipeline work, but project managers generally don’t do the detailed tasks; in other words, they don’t handle the actual pipeline installation work. So how can they still be considered part of the pipeline work? Also, under the project manager for air separation, should there be someone in charge of piping?
In some design institutes, piping and process engineering are combined into one entity, referred to as the overall process system, with the project manager also being appointed from among those in charge of process engineering; however, in many other institutions, piping and process engineering are kept separate.
