One of our absorption towers is used to absorb nitrogen oxides using an ammonium-based alkaline solution. However, the exhaust gas contains a significant amount of mist. It is said that this mist results from tiny particles formed during the reaction between the ammonium solution and nitrogen oxides – namely aerosols. Due to their extremely small size, these aerosols are difficult to remove. May I ask how such flue gases containing aerosols can be treated in order to eliminate the misting phenomenon? Thank you!
It can be addressed by using high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators. However, *ao acid and ammonium nitrite tend to adhere easily to the surface of the equipment, so vibration/sweeping should be intensified! The aerosol issue is a common problem in ammonia-based flue gas purification, and the best mist removal devices can currently only keep the mist droplet concentration at around 75 mg. To fundamentally control aerosols, the key aspects are as follows: 1. Increase the oxidation rate and reduce the amount of nitrous acid, as it is unstable and prone to decomposition, leading to ammonia escape ; 2. Control the pH of the absorption solution ; 3. Add a washing layer ; 4. A demister with good performance is required
