Perhaps God wants us to meet a few wrong people before encountering the right one, so that when we finally meet that right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift. It might be God’s plan: before finding a true soulmate, we have to meet some unsatisfactory people, and only in this way can we truly appreciate the gift of having such a soulmate. When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one which has been opened for us. When one door to happiness closes, another one opens. We often see too many closed doors, while turning a blind eye to the open ones. The best kind of friend is the one you can sit on a porch with and swing back and forth with, without saying a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had. Perhaps the best friends are those people you see passing by while sitting on the porch. You didn’t say a word to them, but when you left, it felt as though you had had the best conversation possible. It’s true that we don’t know what we have until we lose it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives. Undoubtedly, it is only when we lose something that we come to understand its true value. Similarly, before we obtain something, we are not aware of its absence. Giving someone all your love never guarantees that they will love you back! Don’t expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart. But if it doesn’t, be content that it grew in yours. It only takes a minute to develop a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to fall in love with someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. Giving all your love doesn’t ensure that you’ll receive anything in return. Don’t expect anything in return for love; patiently wait for it to take root, grow, and flourish in the heart of the person you love. Even if it doesn’t happen that way, one should feel satisfied and believe that love is growing within oneself. It takes only a minute to fall infatuated with someone, an hour to like someone, a day to fall in love with someone, but a lifetime to forget someone. Don’t go for looks; they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to turn a dark day into a bright one. Find the one who makes your heart smile. Don’t pursue a gorgeous appearance, as appearances are often deceptive. Do not pursue great wealth, for it will also be lost. Look for the person who can make you smile, for only smiles can turn dark days into bright ones. Find the person who can make your heart smile.
