Is a qualification for manufacturing pressure vessels required to produce filters? Do filter manufacturers have this qualification? I asked a few companies and they all said they didn’t have the necessary qualifications. Yet the owner insists on it – what a headache! And the pressure vessel manufacturer indeed said that the filtration area would not be taken into account. Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Please advise. Filter manufacturing can be divided into two parts: 1. If the filtering medium meets the requirements for pressure vessels, then the housing requires design and manufacturing qualifications for pressure vessels; otherwise, such qualifications are not necessary； 2. You can have the filter housing manufactured by a pressure vessel factory, while purchasing the filter elements from a filter manufacturer.
The owner only provided information on the fluid medium, flow rate, pressure, pressure drop, etc., without specifying the filtration area. The pressure vessel manufacturer was unable to determine the shell dimensions and said it could not take on the project. Will filter element manufacturers be willing to calculate and provide the housing parameters?

The main thing is to check whether the filter meets the three essential requirements for pressure vessels, and whether it can indeed be considered a pressure vessel. The owner’s requirements are also based on safety considerations; focusing on safe production is a good thing, and we should support it. If that’s not possible, then contact the filter manufacturer to have it produced and sent to the pressure vessel manufacturer for use, even if it means an increase in cost.
Generally, the filter manufacturer provides the drawings for the filter housing, which are then processed by the pressure vessel manufacturer before being assembled by the filter factory
