I was wondering if there are any experts from Maoming, Qilu, or Hainan refineries here; I have a question I’d like to ask It seems that all the refineries mentioned above have residue hydrogenation units. As far as I know, the design purity of the fresh hydrogen used in these units is 99.9%, but I’m not aware of the current operating data – is the purity of the fresh hydrogen still 99.9% as designed? I would appreciate it if experts from these refineries could provide some answers.
Although 99.9% cannot be guaranteed. But it can also ensure over 99%.
Yes, over 99% is fine. . . Higher purity reduces the energy consumption of the hydrogen compressor. . . :lol
The hydrogen produced through hydrogen production certainly has a purity of over 99%, while the hydrogen generated as a by-product has a lower purity
If it doesn’t reach 99%, the hydrogen production is not up to standard, haha

The fresh hydrogen used for our residue hydrogenation and hydrocracking processes comes mainly from PSA-based hydrogen production; it is also obtained from reformation hydrogen and certain desulfurized dry gases, with the hydrogen purity generally exceeding 99%.
It mainly depends on the catalyst requirements. For the catalysts in our company’s residue hydrogenation unit, a purity of over 90% is required; currently, we are using hydrogen with a purity of 88% from the reforming unit, and operations proceed normally.
