When using a filter to separate the fermentation products, only the rate at which the filter cake is formed and the constant pressure conditions are known. How should such a filter be designed, especially one of the plate-and-frame type? How should the calculations be carried out? Please help me out
By reversing the filtration rate to determine the solid content in the fungal cells, and since the filtration rate is known, the filtration flux must also be known. Then, using the filtration flux and the solid content, the amount of cells per unit time can be calculated. Based on the volume of each filter chamber in the plate and frame filter, the number of plates required can be determined. From this number of plates, the filtration area can be calculated; by comparing this with the aforementioned filtration flux, the number of plates can be adjusted as necessary. OK
