Previously, we added sodium hydroxide and trisodium phosphate when cleaning the boiler; now I’ve noticed that in some sources it is mentioned that hydrazine and trisodium phosphate should be used. The main purpose of boiling is to remove oil stains, and substances such as trisodium phosphate, hydrazine, or sodium hydroxide function in a similar way to laundry detergent. Therefore, the operation of the boiler has nothing to do with the quality of the water; the aforementioned substances (alkalis) are necessary in order to remove oil stains. Urea, compared to sodium hydroxide, is a weak base, and it works as well.
