Please: I’m looking for a flowchart of the low-temperature air separation process used by AP Gas Company in the United States to produce O2, N2, and Ar, including the internal compression stage. If anyone has such a diagram, could they share it?
The low-temperature air separation processes are similar; the main differences lie in the expanders and related components. The internal compression process used in AP is characterized by the use of a high-pressure compressor to compress the air, which is then expanded after heat exchange with liquid oxygen in the main heat exchanger.
I have the process for AP, but I’ve already signed a confidentiality agreement, so I can’t share it. We keep our word. The internal compression process in cryogenic air separation is more or less the same; it’s the details that differ, such as the approaches taken regarding safety and reliability. As far as I know, AP conducts optimized calculations for each air separation process; therefore, basically each air separation unit is similar, but there are still differences, as adjustments are made according to various operational requirements. That’s all I can say. For something more in-depth, I suggest you ask the people at AP for it.
Plexus is likely to be the pioneer of low-temperature air separation technology. The technologies employed by the four major industrial gas companies are more or less similar in this regard, but they are all kept confidential; generally, no one dares to share them for fear of facing legal consequences: loveliness:
