Selection based on the maturity level of coal-to-liquid technologies: (1) Mature technologies: Involving high initial investment (slurry coal, Shell), suitable for companies with substantial financial resources ; Low investment options (fixed-bed, Ruchi) suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises ; But in terms of **policies and return rates, it’s still better to make a higher investment once ; (2) Process in the experimental phase: These processes (with space furnaces as a typical example) are only suitable for large state-owned chemical and petrochemical enterprises, as they involve a high degree of unpredictability and there is a risk of experimental failure; for private enterprises, this would mean risking their very existence. 3. Based on the situation of coal processing technicians: (1) Mature technology: There are many technicians with extensive experience, resulting in a high probability of stable production operations ; (2) Pilot stage process: Technicians have to gain experience from scratch, and production cannot operate stably for a period of time. Due to my lack of thorough consideration, there are still many factors to take into account. Please give me some advice. Our company is a private enterprise, and we want to install a gasification unit. We have two options: coal water slurry or a space furnace. In my opinion, it’s safer to choose coal water slurry. After all, for a private enterprise, funding is a major issue. If we opt for a space furnace, it may take several years before operations can start normally, and the losses during that time could be substantial; in worst cases, the company might even go bankrupt.
I’d like to add a few things as well: currently, **environmental monitoring is quite strict, so (1) whether waste treatment can meet environmental standards is also an important factor to consider.** (2) The gas composition produced by the selected process should, as much as possible, meet the requirements of the final product, thereby reducing intermediate steps and energy consumption. (3) Select an auxiliary process flow with a higher heat utilization rate to save energy as much as possible. (4) The overall cost of equipment maintenance after completion must be fully considered.
