It is relatively simple to produce sulfuric acid from sulfur dioxide: SO2 + O2 = SO3, SO3 + H2O = H2SO4; (In the formula, 2.3.4 are all subscripts; unfortunately I don’t know how to use them, I’m sorry.) Explain: Under the action of a catalyst, sulfur dioxide can react with oxygen in the air to form sulfur trioxide; this is what is referred to as sulfur dioxide conversion ; When sulfur trioxide is absorbed by water, sulfuric acid is formed. In actual production, 98% concentrated sulfuric acid is used for the absorption of sulfur trioxide; after the concentration is increased, it is diluted with 93% sulfuric acid (which is used as a desiccant during the production process). The excess 98% sulfuric acid constitutes the final product. Sulfuric acid of any desired concentration can be prepared, and 98% sulfuric acid can also be used to continue absorbing sulfur trioxide in order to produce 104.5% fuming sulfuric acid. However, to produce sulfuric acid, sulfur dioxide gas must first be dedusted, purified, cooled, and dried before it can be converted and absorbed to yield the product. Sulfuric acid is a basic chemical product, and its production process is relatively mature; the wastewater generated during production can generally be reused, achieving zero emissions.
