If it has been out of use for a long time, the inlet and outlet flanges should be removed, the lubricating oil should be drained. After the shaft can rotate smoothly, the inlet and outlet should be sealed to prevent air-induced corrosion. If the shaft does not rotate, the motor can be disconnected; use large pipe wrenches to apply force back and forth, while also adding clean water at the inlet and slowly rotating the shaft back and forth. If this method does not work, the unit must be sent back to the manufacturer for repair
Using better quality lubricant in daily use doesn’t cost much more. The main problems are: 1. The lubricant oxidizes in the air. 2. The lubricant gets emulsified by water in the air. 3. Low-molecular-weight components in the lubricant evaporate, causing its viscosity to increase.
